One of the most common questions DART riders ask is, “Does DART have service today?”
In most cases, the answer is yes.
Here are three factors that could impact how our services run.
Holidays
There are only a handful of days throughout the year that DART does not offer any service.
There is no service on these six major federal holidays:

New Year’s Day – January 1

Memorial Day – Last Monday in May

Independence Day – July 4
-
Labor Day – First Monday in September

Thanksgiving – Last Thursday in November

Christmas – December 25
DART service is offered every other day of the year, including other federal holidays like Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Juneteenth and Veterans Day.
These three days run on a different service schedule:
On the Friday after Thanksgiving, DART follows a Saturday schedule.
For Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, fixed route and Paratransit services follow a Saturday schedule, regardless of which day of the week the holiday occurs. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, then DART will follow a Sunday schedule.
At the start of each year, DART shares its holiday schedule publicly so riders can plan ahead.
Weekdays vs. Weekends
Not all DART services operate on weekends. Some local routes, all express routes and DART On Demand run on weekdays only. Other services, like On Call, operate on one or two specific weekdays.
You can identify what services are available each day of the week by exploring the “Fares and Services” tab on DART’s homepage.
DART’s Paratransit service, as well as Local Routes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 14, 15, 16, 17, 52, 60 and 72, operate seven days a week.
Severe Weather
DART will strive to provide service on schedule during weather events but will prioritize making sure our drivers and riders are safe. Occasionally, DART service may be interrupted when there is inclement weather. Significant ice and snow during the winter, or thunderstorms and flooding in the summer, can force service delays or detours. In rare circumstances, cancellations are possible.
When bad weather causes problems, you should check ridedart.com and follow DART on Facebook and X to see if there are any updates on major service delays or detours. If you are unsure about your trip, call DART Customer Service at 515-283-8100.
