August 2024 Service Change

DART made minor schedule changes to several local and express bus routes in late August.

The following routes were impacted:

Time changes on local routes follow a new bell schedule for the 2024-2025 Des Moines Public Schools academic year. Time changes on express routes were made to better serve riders. The time changes do not affect the level of service DART provides on these local and express routes.

Local Route 8 - Fleur Dr

DART added service to Local Route 8 that travels along Fleur Drive. A new weekday morning trip travels outbound from DART Central Station to the south side of Des Moines. On weekday evenings, a new inbound trip travels north from the south side of Des Moines to DART Central Station.

School service

DART added school service on some local routes in the morning and afternoon to help transport more than 3,500 Des Moines Public Schools (DMPS) students and staff to and from school during the academic year. The additional trips operate Monday through Friday on school days and are open to the public.

DMPS employees can ride any DART route for free at any time by showing the driver their staff ID when boarding a bus. DMPS middle and high school students can ride DART for free at different times of day depending on how the school district assigns their transportation. Please note all North High School and Harding Middle School students can ride DART for free at any time of day during the 2024-25 school year, thanks to continued funding from the Principal Financial Foundation.
